Inspect the ejector for breaks, chips, or malformation.Ĭheck to insure the ejector is fully gripping the case rim and not being held away by contact with the case.Ĭheck to insure the extractor is able to move fully into the case and grips the case rim fully. Turn the slide right side up and shake it gently. One test done to the 1911 series that may help is to remove the slide, remove the barrel and slide a loaded round up under the extractor. Make sure it moves freely under spring tension. Inspect the extractor for chips, breaks, or weak spring tension. Some things to look at for problems.ĭetail clean the slide assembly to remove any impacted fouling. It's doubtful that the recoil spring would cause both failures to feed AND failures to extract. In any case "As I recall" (Note the qualifier) the FEG's use Browning recoil springs. As I recall the FEG 9mm pistols were either clones of the Browning Hi-Power or used the Browning design for many parts in the double action models.
